Story:
I have been so blessed to touch, feel and experience so many rare antiquities from the far east, central asia and beyond. Their unique provenance and stories leave me and so many of my collectors awestruck. One day one of my favorite antique dealers "Abdo", who travels on horse and camel all over central asia, in quest of antique treasures, called me from his satellite mobile. He described this wild antique camel contraption....yes I said camel, that consisted of a small carpet where a camel rider would sit, with wild multicolored silk cord mesh dangling from it, with hundreds of wild orange yarn tassels suspended from it. Apparently it is known as a "camel fly swatter" that bats the pesky flies away with each movement of the camel over long desert journeys. Sight unseen, I said "I'll take it", and 10 weeks later it arrived at my studio. Although tempted to title this work "Swat'n flies", my more serious side said "Magic Carpet Ride" for this colorful work. Enjoy and Namaste.
