Title: “D’HIVER PÉTALES” (Meaning winter petals in French and pronounced, “Deaux-vair Pe-tahls”)

Size: 36” W x 18” H (unframed)  Sold

Story:
Iris, most beautiful flower,
Symbol of life, love and light:
Found by the brook, and the meadow,
Or lofty, on arable height.
You come in such glorious colors,
In hues, the rainbow surpass;
The chart of color portrays you,
In petal, or veins, of your class.
You bloom with the first in Winter,
With the last, in the Fall, you still show;
You steal the full beauty of Springtime,
With your fragrance and sharp color glow.
Your form and beauty of flower,
An artist’s desire of full worth;
So Iris, we love you and crown you,
MOST BEAUTIFUL FLOWER ON EARTH!

Materials:
Acrylic and fluorescent paints on heavy French watercolor paper, veiled in handmade Japanese rice lace bathed in melted beeswax and acrylic polymers, with wood wrapped insets of contemporary Chinese silk, with wrapped borders of painted and gilded Japanese oil cloth with bamboo threads, adorned at each corner with molded and sculpted bronze by Artist, with fu dog relief, topped with mid 1800s Chinese cash coin with dagger and snake representing protection.
