Title: “THE WIND OF HEAVEN”

Size: 37.25” W x 28.375” H (unframed)

Story:
Having studied the literature of so many fascinating cultures and collecting so many beautiful antique manuscripts from far away places, the written word(s) never cease to inspire and amaze. But sometimes it is the simplest, most succinct of thoughts that capture your attention and transport you to a different place and time, perhaps to that of the poet or author. I came across ancient writings in arabic where the love of equus was so poignant in a simple proverb. It goes.....The wind of heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears. ~ An Anonymous Arabian poet. It inspired the movement and colours in this work of art.

Materials:
Acrylic and luminescent paints on heavy French water color paper, adorned with four 10th-12th century rare Chinese cash coins affixed with religious wax collected from holy temples and monasteries with suspended early 1800s tassels from a Tashkent purse, borders wrapped in vintage Uzbek embroidery wrapped at centers with contemporary Uzbek hand dyed silk, then wrapped with late 1800s Chinese Miao minority embroidery, all resting on museum board, top fabric border adorned with early 1800s Tibetan silver repousse flint purse from the Khamba culture adorned with turquoise and red yak bone, with a suspended tassel from an early 1800s Tibetan horse trapping.
